Figure Drawing
Here at the studio, we host figure drawing sessions each Tuesday and Thursday. We go to the effort for our own personal growth, and also to give the community an opportunity that they otherwise may not have.

I personally really enjoy these sessions, because it gives me the chance to step outside my comfort zone and try something new. I'm so used to doing such a high level of detail on my commercial work, it's refreshing to be able to stay a little loose and gestural with the figure drawing.

I'm going to start posting some of my drawings here from time to time. Hope you enjoy them. The drawings below are 20 minutes each, NuPastels on newsprint.

Dang, she was not kidding when she said she was a dancer...her legs are amazing! I really like the last one! Thanks for sharing these. I like seeing what you are working on!

Definitely. I may be talking out of my a$$ here, but it seems that a defining characteristic of dancers is that not only do they have strong legs, but really strong feet as well.

Actually that's been my experience as well. Great feet on dancers. Much like excellent shoulders on swimmers.
