Wizard :: Cover of the week runner up!
The cover to O.C.T. #3 was chosen as a runner up for cover of the week over at Wizard. A big thanks to Wizard Creative Director and head designer Steve Blackwell!

“A photorealistic image of a corpse’s face with its mouth agape is not your typical comic cover fare. That in and of itself helps it stand out. The eeriness is magnified by the weird gas emanating from the body’s nose, mouth and eyes. ‘Dead eyes…like a doll’s eyes.’ Shasteen then takes it further by making the corpse skin partially transparent so you can see parts of the skull beneath it. If this guy wasn’t already dead I’d suggest he have that deviated septum fixed.”

Thanks to my pal Tommy Smith for pointing this out!

SpaceMonkey :: Sketchbook
Over the past few months in my down time or while I'm warming up, I've been working on a sketchbook piece for a friend of mine. I have most, if not all, of the pencils done here and I'm on the fence about adding color. It's been a while since I've used markers and my confidence level is low. I'll at least scan in a good copy before I butcher it. I'll most likely finish this digitally as well when I get the time. More to come on this guy.

I'm in Playboy...
and I didn't even have to take my pants off. A big thanks to Josh Robertson and Rob Wilson over at Playboy for the nice pat on the back. It's in the February issue with Battlestar Galactica's Tricia Helfer on the cover for anyone who wants justification for picking it up!

Drinkin' + Drawin' = Good times

Last week was the first get together of the Atlanta Chapter Drink and Draw Social Club. Big thanks to the Reverend Dave and Jil for putting the event together for everyone. From all accounts it looked like we had around 50 or so drunkards come out for the frivolities. At least I think it was because I was seeing double towards the end of the evening! Below are a few pictures from the event. Anytime booze and drawing are mixed together you get some god awful strange pictures... you've been warned.

Some pics here and also here.

Also, in case you were wondering, Krystals at 3 o'clock in the morning are NEVER a good idea.
