Father Pena's Last Dance
I illustrated a short story called Father Pena's Last Dance for Realms of Fantasy, written by Hannah Strom-Martin. Steering clear of the obvious visuals, I wanted to play with the themes of good and evil (light and dark), and also represent the Priest's fall from grace. Vampires are the antagonists in the story, but I didn't want to portray them in an obvious way because the reader doesn't know about them right off the bat. They're mysterious and shadowy figures that weave in and out of the general public.

Business Week Cover
=

Here's a cover I recently did for Business week. It was a quicky, but I always enjoy this level of detail. It appeals to the neurotic side of me.

They needed a 60's flower power sticker that appeared to be stuck to the cover and was deteriorated. Sketches were going to be difficult for this particular project, so I started working on some illustrations based on their direction. I created 7 increasingly distressed versions of the flower for them to choose from. Then we went one step further and ripped off a couple big pieces.

For those of you going to Comic-con, I won't be there... BUT!!! we are excited to announce that a limited, black-and-white convention edition of Issue 0 will be available for free exclusively at this year's Comic-Con International in San Diego, taking place July 22-26. The special issue will be distributed by Del Rey at Booth #1129. The Talisman Issue 0 will be available in comic book stores everywhere on October 21, 2009.

Oh, I should also mention that below is the first shot of an interior spread. I'll post more as I'm allowed.
